WINE CONNECTION CELEBRA LA SEGUNDA EDICIÓN DE LOS “INTERNATIONAL VOLCANIC WINE AWARDS”

Following the success of its first edition, Wine Connection is pleased to announce the second edition of the International Volcanic Wine Awards, a competition now firmly established that celebrates wines produced in volcanic terroirs. This growing category continues to attract increasing interest from consumers, distributors, and wine professionals worldwide.

The influence of volcanoes on vineyards, one of the oldest and most fascinating in the history of viticulture, continues to offer the world unique, inimitable wines full of character. The particularities of these soils—rich in mineral components, with unique chemical and acidic structures—give rise to wines with special aromas, distinctive saline profiles, and an evolving minerality that makes them especially attractive.

After a first edition that brought together entries from over a dozen countries, this second call aims to broaden its scope even further. Countries such as Portugal, Hungary, France, Greece, Germany, New Zealand, Chile, the United States, and Italy, among others, are represented through their volcanic wine regions, making this one of the most international competitions organized by Wine Connection to date.

The main goals of this second edition include:

• Reinforcing international recognition of volcanic wines by promoting their image and prestige.
• Encouraging high-quality production in volcanic soils, known for their complexity and mineral richness.
• Educating the public on the unique organoleptic characteristics of these wines.
• Increasing visibility and market awareness of participating wineries and their unique work.
• Highlighting and awarding the best volcanic wines, through a rigorous, professional tasting process across all styles and categories.

The submission period for entries and wine samples is open from June 11 to October 13, 2025.
