This competition includes wines produced in regions traditionally considered to have a volcanic character—a unique and distinctive type of wine that the public is beginning to appreciate and explore more widely with great interest.

It is well known that the influence of volcanoes on vineyards is one of the oldest and most fascinating aspects of viticulture, continuing to offer us unique and inimitable wines. The diverse origins of volcanic regions result in soils with different structures, acidity levels, and chemical compositions, yet they all share a common denominator: an abundance of mineral elements. This gives these wines rich and distinctive aromas, along with an unusual hint of salinity that, over time, evolves into a pronounced minerality.

This ambitious project has the following main objectives:

• To enhance the quality, productivity, and image of volcanic wines at both national and international levels.
• To promote the production of high-quality wines from vineyards with unique terroirs due to the singular characteristics of volcanic soils.
• To spread awareness of the organoleptic properties of these wines among the public.
• To encourage consumption by introducing these wines to the market and fostering an appreciation among consumers for the viticultural wealth of the participating wineries, their work, and their winemaking process, thereby creating a culture of volcanic wine.
• To bring together different categories of wines produced by various wineries located in recognized volcanic regions and to distinguish the finest products.

This is a competition whose sole aim is to showcase and promote these wines, allowing their creators to gain greater national and international recognition.
